2009 05 09 Bristol Docks to Hanham

Martin, Paul and me parked near Bristol Harbour slipway and after purchasing a licence from the harbour master (£6.50) set off. We passed many of Bristolís famous landmarks: SS Great Britain, LTSB building, Thekla. We paddled past Templemeads station, through Redcliff, St Phillips, out into the countryside, past Beas Tea Garden, Bristol rowing club and eventually arrived at Hanham Lock. As the banks on the pub side were now private mooring, Martin jumped off his sit-on-top and hauled his boat over the small weir, Paul and I portaged ours round the lock.

After a beer and chips lunch, we set off on the return leg, shooting the weir this time. On the way back the water turned a little choppy as the sky greyed and the wind picked up.
