2009 05 02 Dartmouth to Tuckenhay

Paul Famer, Lu Webb, Alistair MacDonald and me and Carol set off 08:00. Parked in Kingswear Marina 10:30 car park and headed for local café to meet up with Kate and Martin Uzzell and have some breakfast and tea before setting off.

Launched 11:15 into creek beside car park, using lines to let the kayaks down the slope into the water. It was a beautiful day so the river was busy with tourists on trip boats.

Stopped at Dittisham for a short break. Continued up river, turned into Bow Creek to Tuckenhay. Stopped at the Waterman’s Arms pub for a break (and beer).

Paul was picked up by Sandra so didn’t do the return leg. Paddle back was easy as we were helped by the ebb flow. Back at Dartmouth the creek was now empty so we exited at another slipway and portaged kayaks back to cars.

After packing up we headed for a lovely quite little pub for a cup of tea for some and beer for others, while we overlooked the harbour and chatted about the day’s events.

Flat paddle, hardly any wind.
