2009 04 05 WSM to Clevedon

Beautiful day for a paddle. As this was an A:B trip, we parked Alistair’s car at Clevedon seafront. We then headed for Weston, parked close to Birnbeck Pier, carried the kayaks down and set off. Halfway across Sand Bay, Alistair asked where he had put his car keys then remembered they were safe in my car! Lesson learnt: the land based logistics are sometimes more complicated than the technicalities of tidal planning.

Encountered a small tidal race around Sand Point (St Thomas Head), which can be a bit disconcerting to the novice. No problems – good when there was a big audience on the hill watching us. Paddled across to Wain’s Hill, shore side of Blackdown Rocks and made our way to the small harbour slipway behind Wain’s Hill, then carried our kayaks across Marshall’s field to home.
